Choose Gratitude

When you woke up today, were you excited to start the day? Did you begin the day with a sense of excitement or wonder? Or, did you think, darn, another day? We get trapped in habitual thinking and narrow minded thinking instead of looking at the possibilities. If you began your day with gratitude, it could set the tone for your entire day. Choose gratitude.

Recently, I broke several bones in my foot and it required surgery. I was unable to put any weight on my foot for about six weeks. In a few seconds, my life dramatically changed. Before this, I went to the gym daily and did the minimal workout. Now that working out is not an option, I can hardly wait to go back to the gym and do a kick butt workout.

You may have a job you dislike or dread going to. What if you were unemployed and did not know how to pay the bills this month? If you dislike your job, take some action steps to change careers or change your position, but, in the meantime, be grateful that you have a job, there are many people today that do not have that luxury.

You may not like where you live. What if you were homeless? Again, be grateful you have a place to call home and take action steps to make changes.

This week, try this experiment. When you begin to feel depressed about something, imagine if it was taken away from you. How would you feel? Begin to be thankful for the many blessings you currently have in your life.

Expect something wonderful to happen and that is what you will bring into your life. Get out of the habit of negative thinking. Chip away at it little by little, just like chipping ice from a pond at winter’s end.

Wishing You Peace and Love

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could keep the holiday feelings and sentiments alive all year? I do believe it is possible. How wonderful it would be, to be filled with joy and peace all year? Let’s take this a step further and wouldn’t it be wonderful if all beings were filled with love and peace all year? This joy and peace begins with you. As I spend time with my family during the holidays, I am going to focus on my feelings of love and try to keep that thread throughout the year. The Discourse on Good Will is one of my favorite passages. Wishing you peace and love during this magical time of year.

Discourse on Good Will

May all beings be filled with joy and peace.
May all beings everywhere,
The strong and the weak,
The great and the small,
The mean and the powerful,
The short and the long.

Meditate to Give and Receive Love

This simple meditation is a great way to open your heart chakra and feel the energy of giving and receiving love. This meditation is great to do if you want to attract a relationship into your life. Of course, it is not only designed for single or divorced women. If you feel negative energy around you or if you are feeling depressed or upset, try this meditation to change the negative energy to a feeling of love and warmth. It only takes a few minutes. Ready to meditate to give and receive love? Read the instructions a couple of times and try to do it from memory.

Find a quiet space to sit. A place that you will not be interrupted or distracted. Close your eyes and take a few deep breathes. Continue taking breathes until you feel relaxed. Try to let go of any worries or thoughts. Concentrate on the breaths going in and out of your body. Feel grateful for the air that you are breathing. When you feel relaxed, imagine a beautiful pink light surrounding your heart area. Imagine this beautiful pink light growing larger and larger with each breath. It keeps growing until it surrounds your entire body. Feel that this beautiful light is surrounding you with love. Now imagine there is someone sitting in front of you. This could be someone you know: your husband, your son, or your daughter. Or if you want to attract a relationship, this could be your future partner. You extend the beautiful pink light to them and surround them with your light and love. Fell the love extending from your heart to theirs. Now imagine they are sending you lots of love and pink light. You are allowing your heart to open to receive the love. Continue sending and receiving love for a few more minutes. Slowly open your eyes. Thank the Universe for filling your life with love and joy.

 

 

 

What Do You Believe?

What do you believe? Do you believe that life is difficult? That happiness is not within your reach? That poverty and suffering are normal? If those are your beliefs, then that is exactly what your life will be like. We are meant to have lives filled with peace, love and abundance. That is what God wants for us. If we are not living our lives in this way, we have gotten off track.

Living in the light is living with God. Light gives us strength and confidence to follow our dreams. Darkness only increases our weakness. We have two spheres of our mind: the bodily mind and the spirit mind. The bodily mind or ego is that constant chatter in our head. “You are not enough: not good enough, not bright enough, not pretty enough.” All that is chatter and that chatter puts us off track from being in the light.

When we live in the light miracles occur. That is when we are aligned with our spirit mind and God. Our spirit mind wants us to look past appearances and keep our steady gaze on our dreams. We are not our body. Faith keeps us focused on the life we want and deserve.

Of course, when we live in the light, we will not be problem free. That is simply not the case, but, the spaces and recovery time between the problems will grow less because of our faith.

How do we stay in the light? By prayer and spending time in quiet leaving our weakness behind. A Course in Miracles says, “Faith goes to what you want, and you instruct your mind accordingly.” Believe in yourself, believe in the light, believe in happiness and that is what you will bring into your life.

God is the Presence, Love, and Power in you that conquers all.

Be the Light

The recent presidential election has divided the United States. On both sides, there is a lot of anger, negativity, and resentment. It was a negative campaign and that negativity is surrounding all of us. We have a new president and that we cannot change. What we can change is our energy. We can be the light instead of the dark.

Have you noticed feeling tired? Irritated? Difficulty getting started on tasks and difficulty to complete them? Or maybe some of your relationships are changing? This is all a result of the negative energy surrounding this election. Whether you are aware of it or not, it has effected all of us.

Our energy can be like a mirror to reflect the negativity and anger OR our energy can be a shield to send out love and light. We have a choice. You have a choice. Be the answer to spread love and light instead of continuing the darkness. If you choose to be the light, you are needed now more than ever. This is important work.

Rise above the negativity. Believe in Divine order and protection and that is what will expand. Refrain from negative conversations and negative media. Stay in the light.

When your mind begins to intellectualize, think of God. The God that created you, loves you and guides you. This is your defense in conflict and in peace. Just say the word “God” or “Love.” That will help you remain in the light.

Spend a few minutes in silence imagining God’s beautiful white, dazzling light surrounding you.

I have also found this short prayer wonderful. Let us all say it daily.

Dear God, In the Name of the “Mighty I AM Presence,” we call your Light and Love into the White House, into the National Capital, into the State in the Union, into the Hearts and minds of all politicians to produce Perfection NOW; and bring everything into Light’s Victory of Divine Love. Amen

Soul Healing

When we are ill and go to the Doctor, we most likely follow their orders. Perhaps we need more testing or there is a medicine that we need to take. If the Doctor suggests more exercise, we might consider to begin an exercise program. Likewise, when we are hurt emotionally, we take the necessary steps to heal. It might be talking to a therapist or being gentle with ourselves. However, these are just one aspect of healing. We tend to forget about soul healing.

True healing cannot take place without healing our soul. All healing begins internally and then the external can change. We need to get in touch with our Inner Self and God for true healing to begin. Soul healing is everlasting. It is what brings us joy that never ends.

Consider how much time we all spend daily on social media, emails, surfing the web and looking at our phones. Would not some of that time be better spent on healing our souls? Just ten minutes a day in meditation, can connect you with your Inner Self, put you closer to God and bring you peace.

Paramahansa Yogananda was a great spiritual teacher and healer. Many people would come to him for healing and over time he became frustrated because people were only interested in physical healing. Once they were cured, he would never see them again. He wanted them to do soul healing because we all have the power to heal ourselves. Paramahansa Yogananda was not the healer, God was the healer working through him. It was his strong, unwavering faith in God that did the miraculous healing.

We can begin today to heal our souls. Meditation is one way to begin. Self-healing also includes treating everyone with love and respect, proper diet and exercise. Self-healing puts our faith in God and his power. Think only positive thoughts and practice mindfulness. Then, you too can heal your soul and have everlasting joy!

Make Gratitude Your Attitude

How did you wake up feeling this morning? Were your first thoughts, “Oh no another day?” The first part of our morning sets the tone for the rest of the day. Our thoughts manifest into our lives. If you started the day with dread, guess what, your day probably would be filled with problems. Instead of dread, make gratitude your attitude in the morning and throughout the day.

On first awakening try saying or thinking, “God thank you for this wondrous day before me.” Gratitude opens us up to our true self and allows grace to enter our lives. When we are connected to our true self in gratitude, success and abundance flows into our lives.

Whatever we put out in the world comes back to us. Being grateful for what you have today, in this present moment, will bring more blessings into your life. All we truly have is this precious, present moment. The past is gone and we do not know what tomorrow will bring.

Even if your life is not quite what you want, there are still things to be grateful for. Look out the window and look at the magnificent world we live in. If you had water to drink and food to eat today, that is a gift.

Besides being grateful on first awakening, there are other ways to make gratitude your attitude.

1. At night, write down three blessing you received. Try not to write the obvious ones. Was there someone who touched your heart? Did something unexpected happen? Did you notice something in nature that was magnificent? I have a small forest behind my house and I am grateful every day to watch the birds. Nature can provide us with simple pleasures. When you write them down, expand a little on your feelings.
2. Write a gratitude letter to someone in your past that had an influence on your life and that you never thanked. It could be a former teacher, a relative, a couch, or maybe a friend. It is up to you whether to send the letter. It is more important to put your feelings on paper

This week make gratitude your attitude. Complain less and see what a difference it makes. Allow grace to flow into your life.

Miracles are Seen in Light

Miracles are seen in light. This statement is from “A Course in Miracles.” Miracles can and do occur in our life. But, we must remain in God’s light to experience the miracles.

What causes us to be in darkness? When we are filled with fear, when we are weak, and when we are doubtful, that is when we are in darkness. When we are in darkness, we are not putting our faith in God and any miracles will remain unseen. In darkness, we are putting our faith in our problems and in our fears, instead of in God.

We have the power to be strong, have faith and go to what we want. We have the power to instruct our mind and be in God’s light. That is when we walk and live in the light. God’s strength and love can become yours. Become a flashlight and remove the darkness.

We can remain in the light by quieting our minds every day. Spending at least ten minutes every day in meditation or prayer will allow you to leave your weakness behind. It will allow you to get in touch with your Inner Self that is perfectly created by God. By setting aside some quiet time, you will for a few moments, disconnect from the physical world and enter the realm where miracles occur.

Meditation will also allow you to undo any negative thoughts you may have about yourself.

I am not weak, but strong.
I am no helpless, but all powerful.
I am not limited, but unlimited.
I am not doubtful, but certain.
I cannot see in darkness, but in light.

Living in light is where we are meant to live and thrive. Turn on your flashlight and remove any darkness, that is when miracles will occur. Keep track of your miracles, write them in a journal. It will serve to remind you of God’s strength and love.

The Subconscious Mind is Your Gold Mine

The subconscious mind is your gold mine.  It does what we tell it to do. There are not two minds. There are merely two spheres of activity within one mind: the conscious and sub-conscious mind.

The conscious mind  is our thoughts and our ego. It is the human mind that sees life as it is. It sees death, disaster, sickness, poverty and limitation. It impresses the sub-conscious and is called the “Watchman of the Gate” of the sub-conscious mind. With it we choose what we want to think. What we want to be. What we want to do and what we want to have. The conscious mind rules logic, judgement, and reason. Whatever your conscious mind chooses to believe, your sub-conscious mind will accept it and bring it to pass. The great part is that we can choose our thoughts. For example, instead of saying, “I can’t” say  “I can” and that will come to pass.

Our sub-conscious mind takes orders from the conscious mind. It does not judge and has no ego, it just carries out the orders in amazing detail: both positive and negative. It never sleeps. It is in charge of our organs and our breathing. It is our imagination and intuition. It is what connects us to Infinite Intelligence. For example, if you say, “I cannot get that job,” You wish will be granted. Once it accepts an idea, it begins to execute it. Have you ever had a problem that you thought about before going to sleep and then you woke up and knew the answer. The answer came from your sub-conscious mind, it never sleeps. Your sub-conscious mind is your gold mine!!!

I like to use the analogy of a garden. We can plant seeds in the sub-conscious mind of peace, harmony, health, abundance and good will. They will grow. Positive statements are like water and fertilizer, so, you can reap your harvest and move confidently in life. Negative thoughts and statements are like weeds in your garden, get rid of them, pull them out!

You can control your thoughts and your mind. Your mind does not control you.

 

One Thing That Makes Life Better

One thing that makes life better is gratitude. Our words carry tremendous energy. Living and feeling with a sense of lack in your life, you are going to create more lack. By focusing on gratitude and the many wonderful gifts you are given every day, you will surround yourself with more positive energy and bring more joy into your life.

Our minds are always filled with thoughts. But, you have the power to choose your thoughts. Choose them wisely.  Instead of thoughts of anger, fear or lack switch them to thoughts of gratitude.  You can and will change your life with thoughts of gratitude.

If your life is not quite what you want, thank God for what you have and ask for something better!

Before my feet touch the floor in the morning, I thank God for another day. It is not only the obvious things to be grateful for, but, also the not so obvious things. Did someone smile at you today? Did you see the sky today? Did you have clean water to drink? Some days it may be difficult to find something to be grateful for, we all have days like that. But, on days like that it is even more important to change your energy and find something to be grateful for. Try to expand the feeling throughout your body and heart. In difficult times being grateful will change your perspective and it will allow more happiness in your life.

On the mirror in my bathroom, I have an index card with the following saying, “I am grateful for what I have and I welcome all the gifts this day will bring”. Isn’t that a beautiful way to start a day?

Try this experiment this week:
1. Get a journal or a sheet of paper.
2. Write down 10 things that you are grateful for.
3. Commit to an action plan and read the list them out loud every day for a week.
4. At the end of each day, try to add 3 more items to your list.
5. Continue saying them out loud.

How did you feel at the end of the week? Gratitude is the one thing that can make life better.
