This video explains eight different techniques to bring happiness into your life and into your day. If one tool does not resonate with you, try the next. All of them are simple to bring into your daily schedule and they may just make the difference in your day and in your life. I challenge you to try one and keep it up for a week. At the end of the week, you will feel happier.
I have my morning ritual; it is a time that I cherish. I believe this time helps me stay centered and calm throughout the day. Most mornings, I get up early, while it is still dark and the world is quiet. I make myself a cup of tea and retreat to my “meditation chair.” It is an oversized, comfortable chair with a large basket of inspirational books next to it. This hour that I spend every morning, is a gift to myself. Most days there are no startling insights: just time to pray, go deep into my soul, and be in God’s presence. This week try to give yourself a gift of silence each morning and create a morning ritual.
My morning ritual consists of meditation, journaling, inspirational reading and sitting in silence. I begin reading and praying while enjoying my tea. Next, I meditate for about 20 minutes. This is followed by journaling and repeating affirmations. Some days, I do not have the luxury of an hour and that is alright. This morning ritual has helped me transform my life from fear based to love based.
Some morning ritual will help you deal with whatever the day brings your way. You are starting the day in a calm, peaceful manner and that will help you remain that way throughout your day. If you carve out even five minutes to read some Bible passages, you will feel a difference and set the tone for your day.
Create Your Morning Ritual
1. Pick out a spot in your home that you can remain undisturbed. It is preferable to have a chair to sit on.
2. Inspirational Reading – Pick out several books to keep by your side. I like to have a variety depending on what my mood is. Currently, I am reading the “I AM Discourses” and “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” by Joseph Murphy. I also have a book of daily inspirational messages that I read right before my meditation. My old standby is “Around the Year with Emmet Fox.” I usually read for about 20 minutes while sipping my tea.
3. Meditation – If you do not have a meditation practice, a breathing meditation may be the way to start. Sit silently and concentrate on your breath going in and out of your body. When thoughts come, just let them go. Do not engage the thoughts. Just breathe. I set a timer for 20 minutes.
4. Journaling – Buy a special journal that you will use just for this purpose. After meditation, I open my journal and begin to write. I let the pen just flow.
5. Silence and Reflection – Before leaving my chair, I spend a few minutes in quiet reflection and praying and will recite the affirmations that I am currently using.
These are just my suggestions, be flexible and create your morning ritual.

Our thoughts are creative and at our disposal. Unlock the doors and use this to your advantage. Learn to use the vibratory power of words. You create your own destiny.
With all the horrible, tragic events going on in our world, it is easy to absorb the energy from these events. Even if you weren’t directly affected, watching the news and feeling sorrow and empathy for the many tragedies will create anxiety and affect your energy. It is important during times like these to take the time to relax and release any anxiety or tension. Try these 2 techniques to release anxiety.
Breathing exercises are effective to release stress. Usually, we take our breathing for granted, but, with practice on this technique, you will have a great tool to use.
First, I want you to lie on the floor and put one hand on your chest and one hand on your abdomen. Take a deep breath in and then breathe out. Did the hand on your abdomen rise and expanded the most? If not, you are doing shallow breathing. To use breathing effectively, you need to practice abdominal breathing.
Practice abdominal breathing for a few minutes. Imagine that your abdomen is a balloon and that as you inhale you are filling it up with air. Keep your hands on your chest and abdomen to see where the expansion is. Now that you can do deep breathing practice the following techniques.
Breathing for Letting Go of Tension
1. Inhale and say to yourself, “Breath in.”
2. Hold your breath a moment before you exhale.
3. Exhale slowly and deeply as you say to yourself, “Relax.”
4. As you hold your breath for a moment, notice any parts of your body that you are holding tension. When you exhale, feel the tension leave your body.
5. Practice this for five to twenty minutes at a time.
6. Practice it in non-stressful situations a few times a day. When you are comfortable with the technique, practice it in stressful situations.
Use of a Mantra
A mantra is a short phrase or word that requires no special tools to use and over time can transform your consciousness. It is a simple spiritual practice that you can put into practice starting today.
“A mantram or mantra, as it often called – is a powerful spiritual formula, which, when repeated silently in the mind, has the capacity to transform consciousness. Eknath Easwaran
Select a mantra that works for you. There are mantras from all the religious traditions, and I have listed several examples below. Once you choose a mantra, silently repeat it. Repeat it while you are walking, while you are falling asleep, or while you are doing your chores. That is, it!
When you are stressed, repeat it, until the anxiety passes. Over time, it will become more and more powerful for you. Gandhi called his mantra, “His staff of life.” Start today to choose one, begin silently repeating it and you will have a staff of life.
Om mani padme hum

“Ave Maria” means “Hail Mary” a mantram in honor of Mother Mary

This was a phrase that Saint Francis used in his prayers

All objects carry energy. By clearing the clutter in your home, you are also changing the possibilities in your own life. Remove obstacles and create energy that flows. Do you own your clutter or does it own you?
Try these 5 tips to declutter your home and you will begin to see changes in your life.
When you are finished, open up your windows to let all that fresh energy flow.
Clutter is stuck, stagnant energy. By changing your home, you are changing the energy in your home and allowing more possibilities to enter your life. The Universe fills voids, by, creating the physical space in your home, you are also creating the mental, emotional and spiritual space for your dreams and desires to manifest. Try these steps to declutter your life.
One wonderful question to ask yourself; Do you own your clutter or do you clutter own you? Take a stroll through your home and contemplate that question. Why do we keep things that we do not like, use or need? Are you keeping something “just in case?” This is a fear based response. It is a lack of trust in the future.
Inherited clutter could be a problem. This is like the “just in case” syndrome. Inherited clutter is also guilt-ridden. How could you get rid of that vase that your Mother loved? She would be upset. Sound familiar? It could also be a gift from someone, and you feel guilty getting rid of it.
This past weekend, I decided to declutter. When I moved into this home four years ago, I bought stuff that I did not need or like, but, it was expensive stuff, so I kept it. This past Sunday, I went and bought large moving boxes and got started. There was no stopping me, and when I was finished, it felt so great. The energy in my home felt lighter, and I felt so proud that I was able to release many things from my past.
I went through the box of my deceased mother’s knick-knacks. Most of these have been in a box in my closet for the past four years. My Mother loved these knick-knacks, but, I did not and realized I was keeping them out of guilt. My Mother is in spirit, and she will always be in my heart. I know someone will love to have them and appreciate them, so, they got donated.
If you are going through a divorce or a relationship breakup, it is important to clear the energy of your ex. It is a time to clear and emotional bring in new energy.
When clearing, look at your home and surroundings in a new way. For many years, I always kept large baskets above my kitchen cabinets. Why? Because that is what I did in the past. Well, this weekend all the baskets were put in bags for donations, and the clean look in my kitchen makes me smile. That expensive brass lamp that I never liked also went. I know someone will enjoy my discarded things and I feel like a rebirth.
My Five Steps to Declutter Your Life:
1. Put in on your calendar and get the supplies you need: boxes, tape, large trash bags.
2. Decided on the time of day you will do this. Are you a morning person or do you do better at night?
3. Play upbeat music. Get your game on!!
4. When going through the clutter ask yourself two questions. Does this object bring me joy? Why am I keeping it? If you are not sure about some objects, set one box as a “maybe.” Put a date on it and revisit after six months.
5. Reward yourself. When you are finished, pat yourself on the back. Take a stroll around your home and feel the difference in the energy. Open the windows to allow fresh air to come in.
Transform your life. Set the day to declutter.
The Universe is for us. Expect the best, look forward to the best, and know it will come. We cannot experience what we deny. We must believe and not limit ourselves. Change your habits to change your life.
Luckily, my family and I were spared the worst of Hurricane Irma’s wrath. We lost some beautiful trees and had to endure 90-degree heat without electricity for days, but, in perspective, that is all minor. However, in talking to people this week and feeling the energy while in public, there is an emotional aftermath of Hurricane Irma and this could be the perfect time to build fearless faith.
With the storm approaching, it is hard to predict where landfall and the terrible “eye” of the storm will hit. We prepare our homes, we put up shutters and then when the storm starts, we lose electricity and sit by lantern light. For Hurricane Irma is was a long night of sitting in the dark because it was such a huge storm.
With the emotional aftermath of Hurricane Irma, I feel it is important to not let fear set into our consciousness or worse our subconscious mind. Now is the time to develop fearless faith in God, Infinite Intelligence. We may have fearless faith when life is going according to what we want and need. But, then the forces of nature come in: hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes or a health concern.
We must develop a fearless faith and surrender to a Higher Power, or we will be at the mercy of the forces of nature, which are beyond our control and remain unpredictable. We must get in touch with our Inner Self and that Inner Self will connect us to a Higher Power, Infinite Intelligence. Times like these are when we need to hold onto our faith.
If your mind is filled with fear, try concentrating on courage, so, the fear does not become rooted into your mind. If you find that impossible, divert your attention by prayer, writing affirmations, or saying a mantra. If that is not working, read something amusing, watch a comedy, or get active and do something that is fun.
Then when the fear has subsided, spend time in meditation or prayer to get in touch with your Inner Self and God. Use this time to build up fearless faith, flex those muscles and stay in control of your thoughts.
Hurricane Irma is charging towards Florida. I live in Florida, and I am in the path of the storm. As I am writing this, the hurricane has shifted, and it appears that we are not going to get a direct hit. This has been a very stressful week, trying to decide whether to stay or evacuate. My family and I decided to stay. We spent the week shuttering up our homes, buying supplies and getting ready as best as we could. One thing I had to do was find strength in the storm.
I have been through many hurricanes, but, I have never seen the anxiety and stress level this high. There were long lines to get gas and supplies. Currently, most stations are out of gas, and the stores are out of bottled water. Floridians had to make many decisions this week. It was suggested to put your important papers in a Ziploc bag. I look at my bad with the papers and flash drives and think that my life is in one bag.
What would you put in your bag? What would you protect? With a life threating storm, material possessions did not matter to me at all.
Normally, I meditate and pray every morning. This week, I increased that to three times a day. I cannot control the hurricane, all I can control is my thoughts and put my faith in God. One hidden blessing is that today I am stronger than I was earlier in the week. Most Floridians will be stronger; we have no choice, especially the Floridians that
Please pray for everyone affected by this massive hurricane.
Our life flows and ebbs like a river. There is constant movement. Usually, though, we resist the movement. Our distractions and our rigidity to change gets us caught on logs or rocks in the river. We stop the flow instead of going with it. Try to image your life as a river and go with the flow.
A few summers ago, my son and I were on the Snake River. Across the river were a family of otters. It was delightful watching them play, going under water and then popping back up. They followed the flow of the river with trust and abandonment. We could use a lesson from these otters and try to go with the flow of our life like the flow of a river.
The rocks and logs represent our need to control outcomes even though sometimes there is nothing we can do to control them. We can set clear intentions with the Universe, remain focused, stay flexible, and pray.
What is success? Success is an equilibrium. It is a balance of your work, relationships, money, and happiness. The definition is different for all of us. When you connect with Infinite Intelligence, you begin the inner work that will achieve success in the outer world. There is no shortage of abundance in all areas of your life.
You are at the mouth of a river with a bucket ready to receive the gifts of success. How high do you want to fill your bucket? Be open and mentally and spiritually ready to receive the full bucket of success.
Never give up? Lack and abundance cannot co-exist. Plan and expect success.
