Aromatherapy for Relaxing

Aromatherapy is, as the name suggests, a therapy that uses aromas. These aromas are produced from plants, trees, and herbs. Aromatherapy oils have the ability to affect our moods and fill a whole room with their fragrance. The oils can be smelled, put in a simple burner, or applied to the skin. There is also an electric aromatherapy vaporizer that uses water with the oils. Today we will discuss some essential oils that are good for relaxing.

Aromatherapy oils have the ability to affect our moods.

First, a warning about using the oils. The essential oils should not be applied directly to the skin undiluted. True essential oils are undiluted and come in small dark blue or brown bottles.

Oils for Relaxing

1. Clary Sage – It is extremely euphoric and is very good as an antidepressant. It is also good mixed into a bath.
2. Jasmine – Jasmine is one of the most powerful of the antidepressant oils. It has a sweet floral fragrance. It also has aphrodisiac and sedative properties. It should be used in moderation.
3. Lavender – If you had to choose just one essential oil, choose lavender. It is versatile oil and is derived from the flowers of the herb. Lavender has strong calming qualities and is effective for tension, depression, and insomnia. Put a drop of lavender oil on your pillow at night.
4. Rose – The scent is very feminine. It is strongly antidepressant and has aphrodisiac properties… Try adding a few drops to your bath water.
5. Sandalwood – This is a warm, sweet, woody essence that comes from the sandalwood tree. It has a calming, antidepressant effect and is also has aphrodisiac proprieties.
6. Lemon – It is refreshing, cleansing oil. It can help with depression and fatigue. The oil comes from the peel of the fruit.

My New Year’s Rituals

Happy New Year! In numerology, 2018 was a two-year cycle. I felt it was quite challenging for many people. 2019 is a three-year numerology cycle. This is the year that your innermost heartfelt desires can take form. It will be a pivotal year for many. The themes for the 3-year cycle are JOY, creativity, communication, and expression. It will be a year to have fun. Try my New Year’s Rituals.

What do you want to bring into the new year and what do you want to leave behind? This is a question that you may want to spend some time thinking about this holiday. There is a solar eclipse on January 5, so, there is tremendous energy for you to work with and channel.

My New Year’s Rituals

1. Today, get out your journal and spend some time reviewing 2018. Sit in a quiet spot and reflect on the past year without judgment. Try answering some of these questions;
a. What was the most significant thing that happened in your life in 2018?
b. List one joy and one sorrow that you experienced this year.
c. What is the greatest thing you learned this year?
d. What are you most thankful for this year?

2. Next, list what you want to leave behind in 2018. What is getting in the way of living the life you want? If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

 

LIGHT A CANDLE

3. Light a candle and say a prayer of gratitude for 2018. Let a feeling of appreciation permeate your whole being. Now, leave 2018 behind, except for the lessons you learned. You may want to write down what you are leaving behind on a sheet of paper and carefully burn it. Put the ashes into the wind.

4. Then, make a list of what you would like to manifest in 2019 in your journal. Write a big 2019 on the top of the page. Be very clear with your intentions. Write them in a positive form and believe the Universe will open the doors. God wants us to live happy, abundant lives. Commit to yourself that this year you will listen to your inner guidance and follow it. At the top of your list write, “This or something better will manifest in 2019!” Say that out loud and believe it in your soul. Whenever doubt or fear sets in, go back to your intentions.

 

PICK ONE WORD TO DEFINE 2019

5. Pick one word that will define your year. Write it on your 2019 page in your journal. Ideas: success, love, compassion, relationships, sensitivity, abundance.

6. Make a list of what you will do to nurture yourself and your soul in 2019. Ideas: begin a meditation practice, journal, read inspirational books.

7. Get out some colored pencils or makers and decorate this page.

The Magic of Gratitude

Gratitude is a powerful feeling that will raise your vibration and your energy. When your energy is vibrating at a higher frequency, you will attract more happiness, more love, and more abundance into your life. Gratitude is not ego driven. It is aligned with your true Inner Self and helps you remain in a state of grace. Learn and practice the magic of gratitude.

Think of gratitude like a magnet, and you are pulling more blessing toward yourself. Gratitude is felt in the heart, not the head. When you can remain in a state of gratitude, miracles will occur.

If you feel you are Blessed, more Blessings will follow.

Some days it can be very difficult to feel thankful for anything, but, that is when you dig deep and find something simple to be thankful for. It could be the way the light shines through a window. I could be the sound of the birds chirping in the morning. It could be the person that smiled at you today. It could be a beautiful cloud formation.

Today start a gratitude practice, and you will see positive changes in your life.

Try the ideas below:

1. Before you get out of bed in the morning, think of five things you are grateful for.
2. Keep a gratitude journal. Every day write down several things you are grateful for. Try not to repeat the items.
3. Get into the practice of smiling. Smile at the check-out person at the grocery store. Smile at the stranger that you pass on the street.
4. Write a letter to someone to thank them for their love or their help. How about thanking a former teacher that mentored you?
5. Keep a list handy throughout the day. Every time you feel blessed, write it down. Look it over at the end of the day. How does it make you feel?

Raise your vibration and your energy levels with gratitude. Use the laws of the Universe to work with you, not against you.

Remove Toxic Ties from Your Life

Toxic relationships can poison your life. Would you put toxic chemicals in your body? More than likely, you try to avoid them. Toxic relationships drain your time, your energy, and your self-esteem. You know when you are in this type of relationship. You may feel tired, mistreated, and give more than you receive. These relationships can be with a lover, a friend, a family member or an ex-husband. You have the power to remove toxic ties from your life.

Recently, I cut a toxic tie with a friend. He continually disappointed me, and I allowed it. It took one last huge disappointment, and I said enough! I would no longer tolerate this type of treatment. I kept hoping for a change that may never occur, and the only one suffering was me. Once I made that decision, I felt more in control of my life.

A toxic relationship is like a computer virus that grows and grows. It may start small and go unnoticed, but, eventually, you see that your computer is not working quite right. The next day you may notice something else different about your computer as the virus continues to evade your hard drive. While in a toxic relationship, you may not be aware of the compromises initially, they will grow gradually, but, one day you realize you can no longer put up with the lies, the lack of respect or the constant drain on your time and energy. When that day arrives, you then must have the courage to cut the tie.

What you tolerate will happen again and again. It is like watching a movie or reading a book and hoping for a different ending. That is not going to happen. Releasing this type of relationship requires courage. It is not your fault that you are in a relationship of this type. But, you can do something about it because there is a huge cost.

1. If you are stuck in a toxic relationship ask yourself why you are stuck?
2. If it is a romantic relationship, do you believe that you do not deserve real love?
3. Set healthy boundaries and do not feel guilty about it. Or you may have to avoid contact altogether.
4. Ask yourself, what difference would it make in your life if this energy drainer was out of your life?

Have the courage to release. Do not tolerate mistreatment.

How to Trust Your Inner Guidance

It seems whenever there is dissatisfaction in our lives, we become more impressionable. At times like these, there is a tendency to allow the opinions of others to affect our lives. We get caught in the currents of change and grasp for input. I am not saying that friends and family are not well meaning, they want you to be happy, successful, and content. But, the best guidance is your inner guidance and your connection with God, Infinite Intelligence. How to trust your inner guidance and gain confidence in your choices?
Always remember, there is a place you are to fill, and no one can fill it, something you are to do. That is why God created you to be on this earth. You have a special role to fill. You may not be sure of what it is, but, in silence and with a connection to God, your heart and soul will reveal it to you. There may be baby steps along the way, but, learning to trust your inner guidance and rejoice in the present moment, you will get there.
Trusting yourself may be uncomfortable for you at first, especially if you have allowed others to make your choices. Or you may be nervous that you will not succeed or that you will appear foolish. To reach your dreams, you could have setbacks or look foolish. So, what? Only you know what is right for you.
Every performance an actor has in a movie does not win an Academy Award. Some of my favorite actors had incredible performances in wonderful movies, yet, they were not nominated. Does that stop them from accepting the next role? No, because they are filling their place that no one else can fill. And, so can you.
Take the direct, straight route to find your life purpose and follow your dreams. Spend time in silence, asking God for guidance. Try lighting a candle and put your ideas in a journal. Remember, you are on this magnificent Earth for a reason. Learn to trust your inner guidance and move courageously forward.

Learn to Let Go of Irritation

Our thoughts carry tremendous energy. Usually, when we are irritated, angry, or upset, our thoughts are charged with super power. However, this is not the super power that we want or that we need. The more we concentrate on what is bothering us, the more control we give to those thoughts that do us no good. You can learn to let go of irritation; it takes letting go of the pull the thoughts have on your consciousness.

When my boys were young, I would read them a book called, “When You Give a Moose a Muffin.” In the story, the moose would get a muffin, but, then he would want something else, and this went on and on. The moose was never satisfied with the muffin or anything else. It is similar to our thoughts and our minds. If we let the pull of energy control us, we can never be satisfied.

For example, you may be shopping and see a beautiful dress that you would like to buy, but, cannot afford. You leave the store, and you are still thinking about the dress. Then you begin to think about your job that you don’t like and that you would like to have a job with a better salary. Then you begin to think that you do not like the area that you live, and maybe you should just move and get a new job. It goes on and on, and you become more and more irritated.

So, how to let the irritation go? The minute you begin to feel the pull of energy from the irritation. Relax, take a deep breath and let it go. You can let yourself be bothered by this, or you can be in freedom and let it go. Of course, you may still want the dress, but, it does not have to ruin your day or your mood. Relax, release and let go. Try to relax your shoulders and the area around your heart.

Relax, Release, Let Go

Next time you are at a light, and someone honks at you, try this technique. Relax, release and let go. Be willing to let the irritation go. It is your choice.
