How to Deal With Betrayal by a Friend

Betrayal by a friend is awful and hurtful, however, if you carry around bitterness or hostility you are zapping your own energy. The only one that continues to suffer will be you. It is like drinking poison! You do not need to condone or agree with their treatment of you. But, bitterness only hurts your energy. Like attracts like and you certainly do not want to attract more of the same. You want to attract loving, kind, and trustworthy friends into your life. Wish the betrayer well and cast if off. Spend your energy on thinking and attracting the type of true friends that you deserve. You cannot change what they did, you can only control your thoughts going forward. #betrayal #friendbetrayal

This simple meditation is a great way to open your heart chakra and feel the energy of giving and receiving love. This meditation is great to do if you want to attract a relationship into your life. Of course, it is not only designed for single or divorced women. If you feel negative energy around you or if you are feeling depressed or upset, try this meditation to change the negative energy to a feeling of love and warmth. It only takes a few minutes. Ready to meditate to give and receive love? Read the instructions a couple of times and try to do it from memory.

Find a quiet space to sit. A place that you will not be interrupted or distracted. Close your eyes and take a few deep breathes. Continue taking breathes until you feel relaxed. Try to let go of any worries or thoughts. Concentrate on the breaths going in and out of your body. Feel grateful for the air that you are breathing. When you feel relaxed, imagine a beautiful pink light surrounding your heart area. Imagine this beautiful pink light growing larger and larger with each breath. It keeps growing until it surrounds your entire body. Feel that this beautiful light is surrounding you with love. Now imagine there is someone sitting in front of you. This could be someone you know: your husband, your son, or your daughter. Or if you want to attract a relationship, this could be your future partner. You extend the beautiful pink light to them and surround them with your light and love. Fell the love extending from your heart to theirs. Now imagine they are sending you lots of love and pink light. You are allowing your heart to open to receive the love. Continue sending and receiving love for a few more minutes. Slowly open your eyes. Thank the Universe for filling your life with love and joy.

5 Minutes to Spare

By: Gloria Marie

single happy strong, divorce advice, gloria pierosn

Every moment of our day is precious. But, how many times do you waste precious minutes? It is usually not the hours we waste away; it is the small increments of time. Maybe you need to leave for an appointment, you are all ready, and you have 5 minutes to spare. Or, your favorite show will be on in 5 minutes. Or, you put dinner on the stove and you have a few more minutes until it is ready. Well listed below are 5 ways to spend  5 minutes.

1. Clean out a drawer. It could be your, “junk” drawer, your sock drawer, or your kitchen utensil drawer. It really does not matter, just pick one. Organizing is much easier with small steps. If you take it at 5 minutes at a time, before long, most of your drawers will be cleaned and organized.
2. Go through that stack of magazines. Chances are if you have magazines older than 3 months, you will not read them. Sort them and recycle the older ones.
3. Call someone to say hello. Keep a list of people you would like to speak to but, just never seem to find the time. Perhaps it is an elderly person that does not get out of the house much, just think how a call to say hello will brighten their day.
4. Write an affirmation. Get out a pen and a sheet of paper. Spend 5 minutes writing an affirmation that speaks to your heart. How do you feel after spending 5 minutes this way?
• Some examples:
o I am enough.
o I am loving and deserve to be loved.
o I am grateful for this day and all the blessing that it brings.
o I am creative and my creative thoughts flow freely.
o I am surrounded with abundance.
5. Sit in silence. Concentrate on your breath or sit quietly in prayer.

How did you spend your 5 minutes?

On Your Way to More Confidence

By: Gloria Marie

self esteem. single happy strong, gloria pierson

Often we need a more holistic approach to wellness and self-esteem. We may need to learn how to forgive ourselves for our short comings or faults. We need to learn to love our bodies, have faith in our abilities and feel secure. Today I will give you 3 ways to boost your self-esteem and be on your way to more confidence.

1. Word Wall Sunday

Listed below are adjectives that you can use to describe yourself. Today, I want you to pick 3 adjectives that you feel describe yourself today and pick another 3 adjectives that you would like to become. The list below are just suggestions, feel free to add others.

For example: I feel I am kind, reliable and spiritual. I would like to become more fun, romantic, and creative. We are our thoughts, so, by consciously deciding what you would like, subtle shifts will begin.

Get a blank sheet of paper. At the top of the page, write your name, Word Wall and the date. On this paper, write all 6 adjectives that you have chosen. Have fun with it: color it, put borders, and make some drawings. Then put it where you can see it every day for the next week. Maybe put it by your computer, where you prepare dinner, or on your bathroom mirror. Every time you see it, read the words and feel them in your heart. You are taking charge of your life.

Kind Bright Passionate Fun
Generous Happy Beautiful Trustworthy
Patient Faithful Cheerful Reliable
Humorous Truthful Positive Creative
Peaceful Forgiving Prosperous Romantic
Grateful Compassionate Athletics Content
Spiritual Religious Loving Healthy
Joyful Dependable Generous Artistic
Blessed Confident Carefree Focused

2. Now take this a step further. – Show your friends or co-workers this list. Ask them to pick out 3 adjectives that describe you. Were you surprised by their choices? Did they pick out qualities that you thought you did not have?

3. Take an action toward the 3 adjectives that you would like to become. If you want to become more athletic: join a gym. If you want to be more prosperous: think of ways to cut your budget and also ways to generate more income. If you want to be more creative: publish an article, learn to paint. You get the idea?

Two Most Powerful Words

By: Gloria Marie

affirmations, I AM, divorce, motivation

Our words carry tremendous energy and it is important to choose the words we put into the Universe carefully. Our words manifest into our lives. It takes diligence to become aware of this and to correct old habits. But, there are two words that can align you with the Divine. The two most powerful words are,” I AM.”

“I AM” is “God in Action.” When you say and feel,” I AM”, you are releasing God’s everlasting life flow into your life. Try saying this right now, “I AM unlimited.” “I AM love.” “I AM strong.”
How did that feel? By saying “I AM” you are using enormous power that is love, peace, beauty, harmony and opulence for life. Isn’t that what we all want?

I know I get stuck in a rut sometimes and do not choose my words wisely. I try to catch myself before I sink too far down and write some “I AM” affirmations. I write them down and say them out loud several times a day. I have had some amazing, wonderful experiences with the use of these two powerful words.

What is it that you would like to manifest more of in your life? Start with an “I AM” to align your thoughts with God’s Divine Energy. This is very great stuff.

The “I AM” opens the door to the tremendous love and energy of the Divine. One word of caution, you can SLAM the door shut just as easily by saying, “I AM not.” I am not prosperous. I am not well. I am not happy. This energy works both ways and that is why it is important to become aware of the words you use.

Also, be aware of saying affirmations like, “I AM sick.” You are reversing the principles of life. This is not a positive affirmation, but, it is an affirmation.

A lifetime of habits cannot be changed overnight, but, with awareness, change will begin. Think this over and start to incorporate it into your life. Keep that beautiful, powerful energy of God coming into your life.

Vacation Stop

By: Gloria Marie

divorce the divorce, divorce advice, divorced

Have you ever felt that you are just existing and not living? I believe we all go through periods like these. It is easy to get comfortable with our routines and change is not easy. It is easier to continue with our current circumstances then to stir up the pot. Initiating change takes courage. It takes going deep into your soul to figure out how and what to change. I would like to change some things in my life and that is why I am going to do “A Vacation Stop.”

I have not been on a vacation for over two years, but, I have planned an incredible one for this summer. My youngest son and I are going to spend some time in the mountains. He will be graduating from college later this year and it is the perfect opportunity for both of us to regroup, refresh and nurture our souls.

My friends and family are all saying what a great, fun time we will have. That is true, we will have a wonderful time, but, that is not what this vacation is about. This is a vacation stop. Both my son and I are going to stop our routines and stop our crazy, busy lives. We are going back to the basics. We will spend time hiking in beautiful woods, taking drives to observe wildlife, and taking time to smell the sage brush.

We probably will not have Internet, nor cable television. But, we will enjoy eating our dinners outside overlooking a mountain and watching the magnificent night sky. Without distractions, we will be able to read those books we never seem to find the time for.

Most important, by hitting the stop button we will bring our inner and outer worlds closer together. We will be in touch with our souls and feel closer to God. Our true self is perfect and achieving inner peace brings fulfillment in life. With inner peace, we may decide or refine what our purpose is in life. Just like a cut will heal with a band aid on it, our stop vacation will be healing for our soul.

This summer, try a stop vacation for even just one day!

Shedding Weight

By: Gloria Marie

With summer here, shedding weight may be on our minds. Especially if you are planning on putting on that dreaded bathing suit. But, we also carry around excess emotional weight and this can create a heaviness around our bodies. Our bodies are made up of energy and negative emotions can affect us at the cellular level. What are we carrying around? Usually, it is regrets of the past or fear of the future.

There are theories that we literally put on weight in order to “isolate” ourselves from feelings and emotions. Our cells live in the present. If we can learn to live in the moment, all regrets and fears would vanish. It sounds so simple and it is simple in theory. The difficulty lies in changing our old habits.

The great news is that you CAN change your old habits. We are writing our own book about our life and we can change it. By changing our thoughts and having trust in God, we can modify the story. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Man is what he thinks all day long.”

We cannot change the past however much we may like to and we cannot predict the future. However, we can have faith in God and know that whatever comes our way, we can deal with it. This faith can help us shed our excess weight and emotional baggage that we carry around.

When we begin to heal and ease our burdens, we will have more energy and experience the peace, joy, and love of the present moment. Deepak Chopra said, “The present moment is your magnet and you are the compass.”

Tools to Live in the Present Moment
1. Pray – Spend at least a few minutes daily in silent prayer.
2. Breathe- When you are living in the past or the future, stop and take a few deeps breaths to center yourself.
3. Affirmations – They are powerful tools to bring you back to the present moment. “I am drawn into the present moment with peace and joy.”

Shift From Fear to Gratitude

By: Gloria Marie

divorce advice, divorce the divorce, divorce help

Normally, I am pretty good dealing with anxiety. The past several years brought so many crises in my life, that I was left with very little choice than to put on my big girl pants and deal with it. But, this past week brought a situation that threw me off and I needed to back to the basics again. A shift from fear to gratitude was needed.

My son had a crisis at college. A miracle occurred and it was all worked out. The Dean of the Registrar at his University is a Saint and I will be forever grateful for her kindness and compassion. But, even when the situation was worked out, I still felt a lot of anxiety a week later. If you are a parent, you know, that it is so difficult to see your children going through a rough time.

I was meditating every morning, but, I still had that uncomfortable feeling in my solar plexius (about two inches above the navel). When I thought about this and allowed myself some quiet time to acutally feel the anxiety in my body, I realized my ego was in control. The ego was still focusing on the what-ifs. What if it didn’t work out? What would my son do? Can this happen again?

I allowed the ego mind to rule instead of the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is in a state of grace and does what we tell it. That was the shift I needed. Instead of allowing fear based thoughts every time I felt the anxiety, I would focus on gratitude and the miracle that God provided.

It was a subtle shift. Just taking charge of my thoughts and creating a new habit. Gratitude puts us in touch with our higher selves and that aligns us with God, faith, and trust. Deepak Chopra said, “Gratitude is like a flashlight in a dark forest.”

Within in a day of a gratitude shift, the anxiety was gone and I just felt so blessed for the miracle that occurred.

Next time you are filled with stress or anxiety turn your thoughts to gratitude. We can change our habits by changing our thoughts.

3 Steps to Your Best Summer Ever

By: Gloria Marie

divorced, divorced women, divorce the divorce,

It is hard to believe it is the middle of May already. Summer is right around the corner. Do you have any plans yet for the summer? I remember while growing up how exciting it was to have the whole summer off from school. We would spend days in our above ground pool and take breaks from swimming to play board games. I loved reading, so, summer was also a time to leisurely read. Nancy Drew books were my favorite. Try these 3 steps to your best summer ever.

This summer try to make it your best summer ever. What brings you joy? What makes your heart sing? A friend of mine is going through a tough time and I encouraged her to do something that she loves doing. She responded, “I do not know what brings me joy. I work a lot and never do anything for myself.”

It is easy to get complacent and just exist day to day. God wants us to have joyful, happy lives. Take some time to plan for your summer. I decided this summer I want to try watercolor painting. It is a gift to myself. I may not have any talent for it, but, I can assure you I will have fun experimenting with the paints and brushes.

3 Steps to Your Best Summer Ever
Allow yourself 5 – 10 minutes of quiet time to write out your answers. Sit in a chair, take a few deep breaths and think back to your childhood or a summer when you had a great time. What were you doing? Where were you? Who were you with? What made you smile? Your answers do not have to be complicated, simple answers are the best.
Step 1. Get a sheet of paper and a pen. At the top of the page write, “The Top 10 things that would MAKE THIS YOUR BEST SUMMER EVER”. Write the numbers 1- 10. Imagine the sun is shining. You’re relaxed, happy, can’t help but smile and are at peace with yourself and the world. What are you doing? What’s going on in your life? Now, start writing the 10 things.
If your life is busy with not many options right now, find small things you can do for yourself. (a 20 minute walk, dinner with friends, a weekend away) And remember- your best summer ever may be about what you don’t do as well. (Taking a nap, resting)
Step 2. Below your 10 things, write 3 actions that will move you closer to your BEST SUMMER EVER. These can be small action steps. The important point is that you take these three steps this week.
Step 3. Next week create 3 more action steps based on your 10 things.
What would make this your best summer ever?

Take The I Love Me Quiz

By: Gloria Marie

divorce, divorced, divorced women, divorced womendating

So many times we are brought up to help others, take care of others and little by little our needs shrink into the background. Who is it you ALWAYS put before yourself? Is it your close friends, your parents, your children, or everyone? It is impossible to live a life filled with happiness, abundance, and love if we do not love ourselves first. Today take the I Love Me Quiz below.

Any external change in our lives must first begin internally. We need to change our innermost self and then our exterior lives will follow. It does not happen the other way around.

Take a look in the mirror and say, “I love you.” Does it feel authentic? Or do you feel like; “Wow, that felt awkward?” This is a good place to begin.

Think about someone you truly love. It could be a romantic partner, your husband/wife, a friend, your child, or a parent. Now think how you treat them. You are most likely very kind, generous, and would go above and beyond to help them. Do you treat yourself with that same love?

We cannot keep giving if we do not love and nourish ourselves. It is like a car filled with a tank of gas. If the car keeps driving and driving without stopping to fill up at a gas station, it will eventually stop.

Take the I Love Me Quiz.

Try to answer the following questions and see if you learn anything about yourself.
Score
Yes=2 points
Sometimes = 1 point
No = no points

1. I am up to date with my health checks (dentist, optician, etc.).
2. I eat healthy most of the time & do not abuse my body.
3. I have plenty of sleep, so I always feel rested.
4. I have regular periods of me time (relax, meditate, journal, etc.).
5. I take regular breaks from work and use my time wisely.
6. I say “No” to myself and others when I need to.
7. My home is tidy, organized and somewhere I enjoy being.
8. I choose to spend time with people that energize & inspire me.
9. I have no regrets and have forgiven myself for past mistakes.
10. I have reserves of things that are important to me in my life.

Did you learn anything about yourself? What action can you take this week to get more “2’s”?
