A LOVE Rush

By: Gloria Marie

a love rush, oxytocin levels. divorce the divorce, single happy strong

Do you ever lose faith and feel your prayers are not being answered? Maybe you need a LOVE rush. Emmet Fox says that, “Ninety-nine times in a hundred (your prayers are not being answered), it is because you are lacking in a sense of love for all. It is a cosmic law that Love heals and that fear and condemnation damage and destroy.”

Oxytocin is called the “love” hormone. It is a hormone that is made in the brain and it transported and secreted by the pituitary gland. It regulates childbirth and breast-feeding. Stress levels subside as oxytocin helps lower blood pressure and cortisol (stress) levels. Try these great tips for increasing your oxytocin levels and let LOVE lead!

A love connection is not only with a romantic partner or with family. Love can come from any form of authentic connection. Of course, love also begins with loving yourself. By loving yourself, you can reach out and be a beacon of light to others.

1. Hug someone. – Not a quick, let’s get this over with hug. But, a nice long hug and connection with another human being. Feel the love and compassion for the other person. You can also hug your pet.
2. Shake someone’s hand. – In order to make a connection, look the person in the eye and use both your hands to shake, one over the other.
3. Give someone a gift. – Give a gift, not out of obligation or expecting one in return. Give something unexpected and give with love.
4. Tell someone you love them and mean IT! – Is there someone you have been meaning to call or visit? Take the step and reach out to them.
5. Meditate on giving and receiving love. Try this short meditation.
6. Take a love bath. – Surround your bath area with rose or vanilla candles, fill the tub and put in several drops of rose oil. As you soak in the water, feel yourself surrounded by pink light – the light of unconditional love. Feel the rays penetrating every cell of your body. Take several deeps breaths and bask in the glowing pink light.

These tips can revive your energy and help you to love yourself and spread that love to others.

Remain Joyful

stay joyful, advice for divorced women, divorce advice

What was the first thing you did when you woke up this morning? Maybe said a prayer for having another day on this magnificent earth? Did you feel joyful and excited about your day? Finding joy and living a joy-filled life allows you to shine. Joy is a true internal feeling that is not affected by life’s up and downs. It differs from happiness which is more external. You won the lottery, you feel happiness. This is not to say that you will always be joyful, but, by cultivating joy, you will be joyful more frequently. Here are my six ways to remain joyful.

I practice these steps, not every day, but, most days. If I am going through a more challenging period in my life, I make it a habit to integrate these actions in my life. Let your soul shine through with joy, it will help everyone around you feel better.

6 Ways to Stay Joyful
1. Be grateful. A practice that includes gratitude allows you to dwell on the positive aspects in your life. No matter how difficult a period you are going through, there is always something to be grateful for. Do you say a silent prayer before a meal? Or maybe start a Gratitude journal.
2. Do something creative. Learn something new. When you are doing a creative project, you unblock energy and that energy can now flow in better ways. When you are doing the creative project; pay attention to the process. Immerse yourself in it.
3. Find your passion. Pursue something that you care deeply about. Even taking small steps toward your passion will bring you joy. What does your ideal day look like?
4. Be of service to others. Take the focus off your ego-centered self and bring happiness to another person. Think of the countless ways you can be of service.
5. Exercise. The Mayo Clinic says, “Exercise in almost any form can act as a stress reliever. Being active can boost your feel good endorphins and distract you from daily worries”. You do not have to train for a marathon. Just do some exercise that you enjoy.
6. Listen to your intuition. In silence, you deep gut feelings are very reliable. Learn to be aware of them.

What do you do to bring more joy into your life?

Prayer Works Miracles

By: Gloria Marie

prayer works miracles, divorce advice, divorce the divorce,

Prayer works! Prayer is always the solution when a problem arises. When we pray we align ourselves with God instead of our difficulty. We access our inner peace and our inner presence of God. Prayer works miracles.

Recently my son was having a problem in school. It was, of course, on a full moon and my first reaction to preach and worry. Naturally that did not go over well and my son did not return my calls or messages. So, I took a step back, put away my phone, went to bed and read a passage in a spiritual book. It made me remember to put the problem in God’s hands.

I said the following prayer from an Emmet Fox book:

“There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer; no disease that enough love will not heal; no door that enough love will not open; no gulf that enough love will not bridge; no wall that enough love will not throw down; no sin that enough love will not redeem.”

After reading that, I sent my son love and put the problem in God’s hands. Instead of thinking about the difficulty, I thought, “God is Love and he is guiding us now.”

The next morning when I looked at my phone, my son had sent me a text message the same time I was praying and the problem was solved the next day. We are divine beings in a human body and need reminders. This was a reminder to me. How much better is it to put any difficulty in God’s hands instead of stressing and worrying? God is omnipotent and does not follow the “laws” of our earth. Of course, if there are any practical steps you must take to solve the problem, by all means take those steps.

Next time you have a difficulty try this and I also encourage you to keep a journal of the “miracles” of prayers. If you begin to be aware, you may have more miracles in your life than you realize. Miracles are seen in the Light.

3 Steps for a Breathing Meditation

By: Gloria Marie

The Single Happy and Strong Blog will be exploring different types of meditation. Meditation is simply put, controlling your thoughts and mind. It is not making your mind and thoughts blank. If that happens-great! When you meditate, you should have not any expectations of the results. Try these 3 steps for a breathing mediation.

In the February, 2014 issue of Psychological Science they reported a study on meditation that was conducted by INSEAD and The Wharton School. They found that a 15 minute meditation practice of focused breathing helped the participants make smarter choices.

Zoe Kinias stated in the article:
We found that a brief period of mindfulness meditation can encourage people to make more rational decisions by considering the information available in the present moment. Mediation reduced how much people focused on the past and future, and this psychological shift led to less negative emotions. The reduced negative emotion then facilitated their ability to let go of “sunk costs”.

Here are the steps to try a Breathing Meditation:

1. Find a place to site where you will not be disturbed. You may sit in a chair or on the floor, whichever is most comfortable for you. Turn off the television, mute your phone, and turn off your computer.
2. Set a timer for 15 minutes.
3. Take a few deep breaths. Close your eyes and begin to concentrate on your breath going in and out of your nostrils. Have your body settle in to a natural state of respiration.
4. With each inhalation concentrate on the physical sensations in your body. With each exhalation release any thoughts or mental images.
5. When thoughts appear, just let them go.
6. If it helps, you may count your breaths. There is no right or wrong.
7. Periodically confirm that your body is relaxed.
8. Continue breathing until the timer goes off.
9. When the timer goes off, slowly open your eyes and spend a minute quietly sitting.

How did you feel after the 15 minutes of breathing?

pure delicious, heather christo

If you have any food allergies, this IS the cookbook for you. “Pure Delicious” by Heather Christo has more than 150 recipes that are allergen-free without gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, or cane sugar. The recipes include soups, salads, appetizers, main course, pizza, desert and breakfast. There are also many vegetarian recipes.

Heather Christo’s daughter had a health crisis and she discovered that her illness was caused by food allergies. That was the beginning of her journey towards this cookbook. The cookbook not only has great recipes, in addition, there are six chapters about transitioning and explaining the elimination diet. She guides the reader through an eight-week process to a new normal. The transformation that her family went through with is remarkable.

The recipes are easy to follow and do not require hard to find ingredients. They are accompanied by beautiful photographs and I found the recipes very appealing. The recipes most used ingredients include: coconut oil, olive oil, garbanzo bean flour, beet sugar, gluten-free flour, and dehydrated potato flakes.

I made the Spicy Thai Curry Noodle Soup and it was a dinner time hit. It can be made in 15 minutes and the texture and flavor was wonderful. I also made the Zucchini Chickpea Fritters with Red Onion Marmalade. Again, my testers loved them. They required some effort to make, but, the result was work it. The Red Onion Marmalade I will be making again and again to accompany other dishes.

This is a must have cookbook for anyone with food allergies, but, even someone without allergies can benefit from the natural ingredients used in the spectacular recipes.

I received my copy of this book from Blogging for Books in order to write this review.

Connect with Nature

By: Gloria Marie

Recently, I had the incredible pleasure of spending a month in a picturesque mountain town with my son. He was taking online classes this particular semester and to my delight decided to join me. My intention was to connect with nature and spend the month in a simple way. We did not have Internet or cable television. If we needed the Internet, we went to the local library.

The first few days, it was almost like a withdrawal. I had not realized how addicted I was to social media and constantly checking my emails. At night, how would we pass the time without TV and my Netflix shows? Guess what? We went back to the basics. At night, we would watch a rented movie (we did have a television) or read. My son’s favorite thing to do after dinner was to drive and watch the sunset over the mountains and then spend time gazing at the amazing night sky. He would watch the Milky Way in silence instead of his favorite television show.

We would keep up with the headlines in the news, but, did not spend lots of time dwelling over the often horrific events in the world. After a few days, we surrender to the silence and the peace. Actually, we spent time in the present moment, the “now”. As Eckhart Tolle so beautifully writes about, there is power in the now.

I enjoyed staring at the mountains, listening to the wind go through the aspen leaves, or listening to the sound of a stream going over rocks. During my daily walks, I would marvel at the butterflies or the wildflowers.

I felt closer to God in the silence of nature. Maybe you cannot spend a month in nature, but, you could spend a day or a few hours. It will do wonders to refresh and renew your soul. It will help you get back to the basics and be in the present moment. Try to spend a day away from the news or at least limit your time. See how it makes you feel!

Build an Ideal Life

By: Gloria Marie

We all want to have happy, successful lives. But, what does your happy, successful life look like? A large step to create the life you want is to clearly identify what that looks like. We need to create a vision and a strong personal foundation in order to move toward our ideal life. While defining the vision, it is essential to eliminate thoughts of insecurity and inadequacy. Strong faith in ourselves goes a long way to help build an ideal life.

Whenever I would change careers, which over the course of my life happened many times, I would sit down and clearly identify the steps necessary for a change. Sometimes, it was rather daunting and almost overwhelming. That is when feelings of fear instead of faith would enter my mind. But, I found with clearly a defined vision and concrete steps to accomplish the career change, faith in myself would eliminate the fear. I would read over my vison and this would help prevent obstacles from forming in my mind. My focus would be on moving forward with confidence.

4 Steps to Create your Strong Personal Foundation
1. Ask yourself the following questions:
a. What does your ideal day consist of?
b. What does you ideal income provide you with?
c. In 5 years, what will you have accomplished?
2. Write a clear and concise paragraph of your ideal life based on the answers to the above questions. Every sentence should be phrased in the present tense and contain only positive words.
3. Review it and read it out loud 3 times a day for the next 30 days.
4. Have a mental picture of yourself in your happy, successful life. Whenever fear sets in, create this picture in your mind and do not let it fade!
